Alma Thomas, a painter

This week we've been making pictures based on the paintings of Alma Thomas, an African-American painter.
Her paintings always had very creative names, like "Starry Night with Astronauts" (the painting below).
Would you like to see more of her paintings?

Solar Eclipse

Find out the answer by watching the video!

Phases of the Moon

Click here to see the phases of the moon and their names:

Phases of the Moon

Remember:
- When the moon is shaped like a "D", it is getting bigger! (this is called "waxing")
- When the moon is shaped like a "C", it is getting smaller! (this is called "waning")
- When you can't see the moon, it is called a "new moon".
- When you can see ALL the moon, it is called a "full moon".

When the moon is full, the sun is shining on the near side (the side closest to us).
When the moon is new (and we can't see it), the sun is shining on the far side.
